VentureApp released a map yesterday of all Brooklyn startups who’ve been funded by Brooklyn investors.

The map, while a great deal skimpier than its Manhattan version, is nonetheless an interesting way of understanding the lay of the land in the Brooklyn tech world.

“The innovation economy can be very exclusive to outsiders,” said Chase Garbarino, the CEO of the Boston-based VentureApp, in a statement. “We think mapping tech ecosystems on top of a chat platform makes entering a massive community like New York City much easier and more actionable for professionals and founders.”

The map does not include Brooklyn startups funded by Manhattan investors, which would likely be several times the volume of the Brooklyn-only version. The main Brooklyn investors of Brooklyn companies include Charlie O’Donnell and his Brooklyn Bridge Partners venture capital fund; Alexis Ohanion, the cofounder of Reddit (and husband of Serena Williams!); ACRE, the NYU Tandon-associated incubator, and Urban.Us, a new civic tech-oriented VC based in Greenpoint. Notation Capital, which has a long track record of making Brooklyn investments was not included for some reason.
