The construction of one of Brooklyn’s largest tech hubs is underway down at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Built by Marvel Architects, Building 77 will be the home of Brooklyn’s new startup incubator 1776NY, whose director, Rachel Haot published some thoughts on it this week.

“Our campus will be a place for the broader startup ecosystem to come together,” Haot writes. “New York City’s tech ecosystem has seen explosive growth, but fragmentation has meant that the whole is not always greater than the sum of its parts. From our conversations with tech community leaders across NYC, we know there is a hunger for greater communication and coordination. As Brooklyn fast becomes the tech epicenter of New York, 1776 will design our campus to serve ecosystem infrastructure needs.” (Emphasis added.)

Below are renderings of the building and of 1776.
