Hack the ban at NYU MAGNET later this month

An organization called Hack the Ban will be holding a hackathon to aide organizations working to protest the initiatives of the Trump administration later this month.

“Hack the Ban brings together multidisciplinary creatives (technologists, designers, journalists, etc) and organizations working at the forefront of immigration issues,” according to the organization. “The intention is to help these organizations fight more effectively by working directly with them on problems they are facing.”

The event will take place Feb. 25 at NYU MAGNET (Media and Games Network) on the NYU Tandon campus in Downtown Brooklyn.

Last Friday, U.S. District Judge James Robart suspended the executive order issuing the travel ban, a decision the administration is appealing.

Hack the Ban says its goals are threefold:

1. Design with purpose
2. Create concrete solutions that can be used RIGHT. NOW.
3. Foster a technical support community for the resistance

It’s unclear who organized Hack the Ban, but its site says, “Supported by NYU’s Integrated Digital Media program and CUNY CLEAR.”
