3 Brooklyn startups that got funded this spring

Let's take a look at the latest SEC filings.

1. Paperspace ($2.8 million)

Paperspace has a super interesting concept: putting your primary computer on the cloud.
Instead of having a heavy-duty laptop or desktop, you can log into your computer from any connected device.
“With your whole computer in the cloud, every screen becomes a portal into your workspace,” according to the company. “The device you use doesn’t need to be powerful — a Macbook Air or a Chromebook can run the most complex 3D models.”
Paperspace is located at Dumbo’s 20 Jay St. — a place we once profiled for its tech activity.

2. AzurRX BioPharma ($635,000)

Based in the SUNY Downstate Biotechnology Incubator in Lefferts Gardens, AzurRX is getting into the microbiome game.
The company bills itself as, “a development stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of recombinant proteins for the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and microbiome related conditions.”

3. Payfully ($300,000)

Williamsburg-based Payfully offers, essentially, an advance on your Airbnb bookings. So if you make a booking in September, they’ll pay you for it now and take a small cut when the money comes through from Airbnb when the booking actually happens. For people running a serious Airbnb operation, this could be helpful for managing cash flow.
