You don’t have to be a billionaire political despot to care about your security online. Or a candidate running for office. You could just be a person for whom not every part of your life need be publicly available, which is to say, nearly all of us.
If that’s the case, you might be interested in two of Brooklyn’s most interesting organizations teaming up: CryptoParty will hold its next free, open seminar on cybersecurity at NYC Resistor, in Downtown Brooklyn.
According to NYC Resistor, it will be, “A night of learning about your digital defense in the age of mass surveillance from Fort Meade and Madison Ave. Stop by [at] 7PM and enjoy snacks and skills from a variety of online security practitioners and researchers.”

Here are the topics the CryptoParty will tackle:

  • PGP! What even is that, how do I begin using it?
  • Tails OS: A leave-no-trace system for using Tor.
  • Obligatory PSA to tell you all to use Signal.

No need to RSVP or buy tickets, you can just show up at NYC Resistor. April 13, 7 p.m., 87 3rd Ave., 4th Floor, Downtown Brooklyn.
