Williamsburg shoe company raises another $1.5 million [Startup Roundup]

Who’s getting money?

Greats Brand, the shoe company, raised $1.5 million on an offered $4 million equity-only round, according to the SEC. This was their second round. The company raised just shy of $2 million last year.
 

Who’s making moves?

The Atavist has hired Katia Bachko, formerly of First Look Media and The New Yorker, as its executive editor, according to Capital New York.
EnergyHub has appointed Benjamin Hertz-Shargel as VP of Analytics, serving as the software company’s lead data scientist, according to a press release. We recently ran an extensive interview with the company’s founder.
Sugarlift is releasing its second volume of artworks with a party in Bushwick on Thursday, featuring commissioned artwork from the Brooklyn Collage Collective. We wrote about the company when it launched.
West Elm is selling products that say “Made in Brooklyn” on them that aren’t made in Brooklyn, according to The Brooklyn Paper.
 

Who’s getting buzz?

Happy Fun Corp appears on TechCrunch’s Made in Brooklyn series. The company says a little more about Happy Fun Academy, a project it announced in August. The academy was a coding school where students worked alongside the company’s engineers while they did client work.
