Brooklyn’s place in the Northeast Corridor [podcast]

The Northeast Corridor is one of the most productive regions on Earth. Could it be even more productive if its cities became more richly interconnected?

The Northeast Corridor of the United States is one of the most dynamic and productive regions in the entire world. As tech sectors grow up in each of its cities, we discuss the ways in which the tech scenes of the Northeast are interconnected, and the ways they could become connected more.

Some of the topics we covered:

  • Transit. The likelihood of running into other startup leaders while traveling on the megaregion’s buses and trains. Also, which cities the entrepreneurs we talk to need to visit and why. Is it only New York? Do New Yorkers ever visit other cities?
  • Investment. Are there investors who think it’s best to invest in their own backyards? There’s a group in Philadelphia that thinks so.
  • Rivalry. What is it good for? Which Northeastern cities have rivalries with each other? Do those rivalries make each tech scene stronger or do they undermine a greater unity that could make the whole region stronger?
  • Suburbs. What does it mean for our tech scenes as suburbs start to depopulate and cities repopulate?
