BioLite succeeds in crowdfunding campaign in about an hour [Startup Roundup]

Who’s getting money?

BioLite kicked off a crowdfunding campaign for its new BaseCamp. The BaseCamp Stove is basically the HomeStove they sell in the developing world, but for campers. An email went out about the product at 7 am Wednesday morning and they had met their $45K goal by a little after 8 am. 32 more days to go. Since they had special rewards for the first 500 people to pre-order a BaseCamp ($299 minimum pledge), we don’t really think they thought they would stay below $45K for long.

Angel Say‘s VRBAN project won the TechCrunch Disrupt New York Hackathon for a $5,000 prize. The company enables users to explore a city using Oculus Rift, by generating virtual reality models for a cityscape based on real world data.

Who’s making moves?

We wrote about Security Scoredard‘s funding round in December. Based on their LinkedIn page, they have moved their operations to Manhattan for launch.

Ocho, the iOS app for sharing short videos with friends, is in a private beta now. People are testing the platform out, getting it ready for showing to the world soon. See some early ones on their Google Plus page.
