Deskcamping service expands from London to BK [Startup Roundup]

London startup Deskcamping is now focusing on expansion into New York City, especially North Brooklyn

Who’s getting money?

Sharebears, LLC, raised $68,000 on an offered $100,000 in debt, according to an SEC filing. The filing lists one of the executives as “Pinsley Nathan.” There is a “Nate Pinsley” on Twitter who has been retweeting a lot from a site called ShareGurl, which appears to be a resource for coordinating trips to Fire Island with people you know.  There’s already an app in the iTunes store.

Who’s making moves?

Kickstarter announced that the billionth dollar was pledged to a project at around 4:03 a.m. Monday morning. Half of that billion was pledged in the last 12 years. They put up an extensive infographic about the milestone, which seemed to show that once people start giving they keep doing it. The company moved its office to Greenpoint earlier this year.

Who’s getting buzz?

Patricia Korth-McDonnell is highlighted as a Huge employee who was there from the very early days, as a project manager. The company has 750 employees now, but it had less than 20 then. She’s included on a list Mashable made of employees who have been with tech companies from early on.

London startup Deskcamping is now focusing on expansion into New York City, especially North Brooklyn, according to DNAInfo. The site helps entrepreneurs find empty space in offices that have more seats than they need.
