5 fav speakers at Digital Dumbo’s “Connected Life” conference [DISCOUNT]

Digital Dumbo has organized the dd:Impact Conference, for Wednesday, Oct. 9th, "The Connected Life." Here are five speakers scheduled to present at its half-day conference that are sure to get people thinking. Plus, a $50 discount code.

Digital Dumbo, the tech events and community group, started as a way to nurture innovation in the Dumbo neighborhood. As the neighborhood has grown, Digital Dumbo has taken its work beyond, from London to Dallas.

The next step in founder Andrew Zarick‘s work beneath the Manhattan Bridge is next week’s dd:Impact Conference, “The Connected Life.” Though the $150 registration might look sold out, Technically Brooklyn readers can get a $50 discount here.

Here are five scheduled speakers for the half-day conference that Technically Brooklyn is most interested in hearing:

Jenny Lawton, President of MakerBot industries

They brought 3D printers to regular people and are about to do the same with 3D scanners. Like early synthesizers and consumer camcorders, the tools for creation are often as important as what people make with them. With so many Makers in Brooklyn, there’s no question that everyone will be listening for clues about what MakerBot might enable them to make next.

Hunter Lee Soik, CEO of Shadow

A veteran experience designer, Soik is now developing an app to help you remember your dreams and make sense of them.

Carla Diana, Digital Physical Designer

She’s working to make the real world interact with the Internet, but just watch the cartoon she made for the New York Times with Katie Turner and you’ll see why she’s worth hearing.

Ryan Charles, CEO of Consumr

First he did it with travel and now he’s doing it with consumer goods, Charles is at the forefront of crowdsourcing opinions for everyone’s benefit.

Peter Cervieri, cofounder of The Future Journalism Project

There’s been no small amount of handwringing about the coming fate of reporters, and Cervieri’s project is confronting disruptions, education, democracy and business models for investigation head-on in a “multiplatform documentary.”
