Technical.ly grows local technology communities by connecting organizations and people through news, events and services. We provide original editorial, expert programming and tools which improve recruitment, marketing, community cultivation and economic development. We serve technologists, entrepreneurs and people who care about technology’s local impact.

Assistant Editor

Stephen Babcock ( @stephenbabcock / Send an email ) Stephen Babcock is the Assistant Editor for Technical.ly. Stephen Babcock began reporting for Technical.ly in Baltimore in 2014. A graduate of Northeastern University, he moved to Baltimore following stints in New Orleans and Rio Arriba County, New Mexico. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Baltimore Fishbowl, NOLA Defender, NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune and the Rio Grande Sun.

DC Market Editor

Michelai Graham ( @ohmichgee / Send an email ) Michelai Graham is the Market Editor of Technical.ly DC. She has a master's in investigative reporting from American University, where she began reporting on cyber and tech news. Originally from Sacramento, Calif., Graham covered arts and culture in Lansing, Mich., while studying at Michigan State University.

Managing Editor

Julie Zeglen ( @juliezeglen / Send an email ) Julie Zeglen is the managing editor of Technical.ly and oversees its four markets: Philadelphia, Baltimore, D.C. and Delaware. She first joined the Technically Media team as editor of sister site Generocity, which covers social impact in Philadelphia, and previously worked as managing editor of Star Community Newsweekly, a hyperlocal newspaper focused on Philadelphia's River Wards. The Temple alumna calls West Philly home.

Production Manager

Sam Markowitz ( @sammarkowitz / Send an email ) Sam Markowitz is the Production Manager for Technical.ly. Previously, he had several years of experience in video and media, most recently as a production manager for Tweed Video. He is an alum of NYU and the NBC Page Program. When not working, you can find Sam cooking delicious vegan food, making terrible puns, and attending concerts. He owns an appropriate number of cats.

Marketing Manager

Less Cardinal ( @ / Send an email ) Less Cardinal is the Marketing Manager for Technical.ly. In the past, Less has worked in digital marketing at BAYADA Home Health Care and multiple recruiting agencies throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. In his professional and personal life, he enjoys creating spaces and content that people can enjoy. There is usually a crowd at his house enjoying food, yelling at the ref on tv for a bad call (don’t judge, they can't hear us) and laughing together. He has a huge passion for sports including his local rugby club (Philadelphia Gryphons), Eagles and Sixers.

Product Analyst

Kevin Lynch ( @ / Send an email ) Kevin Lynch is a Product Analyst at Technically Media. Kevin recently graduated from Temple University. Having majored in MIS, he hopes to change the way we use data to drive strategy at Technically Media.

Operations Manager

Jane Lee ( @ / Send an email ) Jane Lee is the Operations Manager for Technically Media. Previous to joining the team, she held roles in Retail Management and Buying for specialized boutiques. Jane is currently a MBA candidate at Temple University. She is an avid reader and dedicated to rescuing stray cats.

Business Development Manager

Alex Galiani ( @dagaliani / Send an email ) Alex Galiani is the Business Development Manager for Technical.ly Baltimore. Prior to joining our team, he was a founding partner for Capra LLC which provides branded apparel and promotional products to a wide range of clients. Alex has held Sales and Marketing positions for a variety of companies throughout his career. The native of Baltimore and Towson University alum enjoys spending time with his family, coaching youth sports, cycling and the arts.

Chief Product Officer

Kristin Dudley ( @kadud / Send an email ) Kristin Dudley is a design thinker who has applied creativity to the workplace by rethinking how people are introduced to their new or prospective employer. An employer brand strategist and workplace documentarian, Kristin recently took on the role as Chief Product Officer of Technical.ly. Kristin is responsible for developing ways to connect readers to their dream jobs; while better introducing local companies to local talent. Kristin formerly served as Senior Manager of Talent Brand and Attraction for Comcast NBCUniversal; holds a Master of Science in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelors in Fashion Design from Drexel University.

Cofounder and Chief Executive Officer

Christopher Wink ( @christopherwink / Send an email ) Christopher Wink is a Cofounder, Chief Executive Officer and Publisher of Technical.ly, the local technology news network. In that capacity, he is a co-organizer of Philly Tech Week, Baltimore Innovation Week, Delaware Innovation Week and other events that bring smart people together. Previously, Wink worked for a homeless advocacy nonprofit and was a freelance reporter for a variety of publications. He writes regularly about news innovation and best business practices on his personal blog here and curates a personal monthly newsletter of ideas and links here. The bicycle commuter loves cities, urban politics and squabbling about neighborhood boundaries.

Events Director

Catherine Sontag ( @ctag115 / Send an email ) Catherine Sontag is the Events Director and has been overseeing and executing events in all of Technical.ly's markets since 2014. With an eye for detail and a sixth sense for what’s never been done before, Sontag has dedicated her career to creating new ways to surprise and delight event-goers. Respecting the complexity and tactical acuity required for producing a successful event, Sontag revels in the details. Her detail-oriented methodology ensures that no stone goes unturned during the event production process. She's a hydration enthusiast and owns a home in Philadelphia where her two cats reside (Twitter & Leo). The highlight of her time at Technical.ly thus far, has been conceptualizing and executing the standout 2018 event, Introduced by Technical.ly

Events and Experiences Manager

Clayton Wert ( @claytonwert / Send an email ) Clayton is the Events and Experiences Manager for Technical.ly, with past experience in building communities through experiential learning and program design. Clayton has worked as a career coach, mentoring career-changers across 30+ industries to assist in navigating transitions into new companies and roles, and has been featured on The Huffington Post, The Muse, and Fast Company regarding career preparation. Always focused on eclectic skill-building projects, you can find Clayton listening to podcasts, taking photos, obsessing over new ideas in the kitchen, and traveling to new destinations pretending that he’s the next Anthony Bourdain.

Events Coordinator

Fatima Conteh ( @_FatimaConteh / Send an email ) Fatima is the Events Coordinator for Technical.ly, carrying years of experience in event design, workshop production and community building. After graduating Drexel University in 2015, she focused her efforts on creating content for people of color to explore their mental health and sharing mindful resources that can help independents creators. Ask her about her next workshop!

VP of Philadelphia Initiatives

Vincent Better ( @vbetter / Send an email ) Vincent Better is the VP of Philadelphia Initiatives for Technically Media. Previous to joining the team, he served as an independent consultant and the VP of Digital Solutions at Pennlive.com, one of the leading digital properties in the state of PA. His strategy experience transcends both national brands and small, local businesses. The native of Baltimore and Temple alum also enjoys cycling and live music.

Director of Marketing and Partnerships

Jeanette Lloyd ( @jah_netti / Send an email ) Jeanette Lloyd is Technically Media's Director of Marketing and Partnerships. She focuses on events marketing, audience development and product marketing. Lloyd thrives on making connections that spark. She draws experience from the corporate (Red Bull NA) and nonprofit (Media In Neighborhoods Group) worlds, and has always been involved with innovative, creative endeavors in events, music, performance, cinema and the arts.

Business Development Manager

Aileen Connolly ( @aileenconnolly / Send an email ) Aileen Connolly joined Technically Media in September 2016 and is the Business Development Manager for Philadelphia and Delaware. She has five years of business development experience, and is passionate about forming meaningful partnerships through creative solutions. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, rooting on the Pitt Panthers and continuing her personal quest to find the best garlic knots in Philadelphia.

Zack Seward ( @zackseward / Send an email ) Zack Seward was Editor-in-Chief of Technical.ly, the local technology news network. Previously, Seward was the Innovations Reporter at WHYY and NewsWorks.org in Philadelphia. Before that, he worked at WXXI in Rochester, N.Y., as a reporter and editor for a statewide public radio reporting project. Seward is an alumnus of Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism. He's originally from San Francisco and went to college in Chicago.

Matt Ward ( @ / Send an email ) Matt Ward is a freelance writer based in Catonsville. A graduate of University of Baltimore and Johns Hopkins University, he has worked as a newspaper reporter, technical writer, and editor of government publications.

Maria Volkova ( @ / Send an email ) Maria Volkova received her bachelor’s degree in journalism and Russian literature from the University of Maryland. She has previously interned at The Moscow Times and Voice of America. She currently works as a freelancer and writes about a plethora of topics ranging from body image, science to technology.
