Baltimore-based b.well Connected Health was selected to join a new healthcare-focused accelerator that Amazon Web Services is running this fall.

b.well was one of 10 growth-stage companies selected for the four-week program, which is called the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Healthcare Accelerator.

“We are honored to join AWS in its push to help public sector healthcare enterprises accelerate their digital transformation,” said b.well Connected Health CEO Kristen Valdes, in a statement.

While many accelerators concentrate resources around early-stage startups as they build a model, this program is different. It’s focusing on supporting growth-stage companies that have landed on product-market fit, and established a customer and revenue base.

b.well’s platform is designed to be a “frontend” for healthcare. It brings together data from disparate sources in one digital place, draws insights and provides connections to care. Collectively, the company said its contracts with companies, health systems and insurers that serve 7 million lives. b.well has raised $60 million from investors, including a $32 million Series B that closed over the summer. The team also grew to more than 100 employees in a year. This came as increased digital health adoption in the pandemic, and data-focused regulatory changes at the federal level.

Specifically, the accelerator is geared toward helping companies grow in the cloud, which is the focus of the services and resources that AWS offers. The program is preparing companies to match with AWS customers and partners for potential collaboration opportunities. AWS also partnered with KidsX, an innovation-focused consortium that includes 50 children’s hospitals from North America, Europe and Australia.

A demo day for the accelerator is set for Oct. 28.

This week, b.well Connected Health is in Boston for the HLTH 2021 conference, with a booth and talk planned on collaboration and the future of healthcare.
