A hospitality tech company said last week that it signed an agreement to operate a historic Mount Vernon hotel.

Los Angeles-based Jurny will integrate its tech and management services to operate the Hotel Brexton. Originally built in 1881, the 25-unit boutique hotel was recently remodeled. Famously, the hotel was once home to Wallis Warfield Simpson, who would go on to marry King Edward VIII of England, leading him to abdicate the throne.

Jurny makes tools that allow for operations, and a contactless experience for guests. This includes booking services, management of cleaning and customer support. It uses a model known as software as a service (SaaS), in which software is licensed to a user and hosted in the cloud.

“Hotel Brexton is an exciting property to add to our growing portfolio for its history, central location and endless potential,” said David Phillips, cofounder and president of Jurny, in a statement. “As hotel operators work to adjust to unpredictable market conditions and the evolving demands of travelers, our technology helps boutique hotels, like Hotel Brexton, streamline operations and appeal to the modern traveler without losing their charm.”

It marks an expansion into the region for Jurny, which also operates hotel and apartment units in cities such as Miami, London, Nashville and Tel Aviv.
