Editor’s note: Every week we ship an email newsletter featuring the region’s most exciting career opportunities. We’ve lovingly called it This Week in Jobs (aka TWIJ — “twidge.”). Below is this week’s edition. Here’s the last one we published; it’s meant to live in your inbox. Sign up for the newsletter here.

Tiki themes were in need of some image rehab. Good thing, then, that a group of D.C. priests, imbibing aboard a floating tiki bar while on a retreat in Upstate New York, happened upon a man at risk of drowning last week.

The seminarians reportedly spotted Jimmy McDonald, who’d overturned his kayak and had started struggling in the water. “It was a movement of the Holy Spirit, that’s what I’ll say,” Noah Ismael, a second-year seminarian, later told NBC 4 Washington.

Here’s to getting what you need just in time, especially if it’s on the job hunt.

The News

Movies, music, commerce — seemingly everything except food and drinks and our friends lives in the cloud. That’s why the expert team at cloudtamer.io is helping businesses wrangle their cloud resources, helping prevent tens of thousands of dollars in accounting surprises, protecting against security vulnerabilities, and making sure everything cloud-related runs the way it should. If that sounds good to you — especially the company’s strong emphasis on supporting employees — checkout the openings at cloudtamer.io below.

We won’t tell you how we built Technical.ly’s 10th annual Philly Tech Week (trust us, the details are painfully boring), but know that Guy Raz, host of NPR’s smash hit “How I Built This” and, previously, the TED Radio Hour, will be the keynote speaker at Introduced by Technical.ly on Sept. 25, our daylong conference focused on ideas for building better workplaces. Tickets are $100, and the first 300 registrations will get a signed copy of Raz’s brand-new book shipped to their doorsteps.

Listen up, founders: 1776, the coworking network and business incubator with roots in D.C., is launching a virtual startup accelerator to help entrepreneurs take their companies to the next level. The 10-week program is set to start Oct. 7. Applications are due Sept. 18.

The End

McDonald, the man pulled from Lake George, is apparently a substance abuse counselor and in recovery. “I’ve been sober for seven years,” he told NBC, “and I get saved by a tiki bar.”

Stay safe, tighten those life vests if you’re ever on the water, and good luck out there on the job hunt!
