Standing desk manufacturer Varidesk will be raising its presence in Baltimore in 2020.
The Dallas-based company hired Denica Greenwood to lead the market as regional sales director. The Maryland resident previously held sales director roles at payroll and HR company Paychex, as well as digital marketing company Hibu.
“We’re focusing on Baltimore with a new momentum — it’s a key market for us as we invest and grow our footprint,” Greenwood said. “Given the growth we’re seeing in the tech industry, and the current hiring market which is in favor of job seekers, we’re excited to work with forward-looking companies in Baltimore. Organizations are in constant competition to attract the best and brightest, and attractiveness of the work environment has proven to play a role in recruitment and retention.”
Varidesk is planning to open a local office and hire additional sales executives. The company is still exploring potential space for the new office.
Billing itself as a workplace innovation company, Varidesk makes a line of office furniture. It is mainly known for adjustable sit-stand desks, and converters that add some height to a typical sitting desk. The company also makes conference tables, moveable walls and lighting, and works with companies to create office designs that can evolve with new workstations or spaces as they grow.
The company’s clients include startups, small and medium-sized businesses or larger companies. A focus on attracting and retaining talent is a common thread throughout its clients.
“Creating a workspace that employees want to work in is key,” Greenwood said. “Company cultures can thrive with a thoughtfully designed workspace that helps promote collaboration, productivity and employee engagement.”-30-
