What’s your stack? Tell us for Tech Stacks Month

Seriously, tell us: For your dev projects, what kinds of libraries, frameworks and programming languages are you working with? Plus, get pumped for Super Meetup 2019.

When he’s explaining the basics of web-based apps, Ken Rimple describes tech stacks as analogous to construction workers’ tool belts.

Just as a tool belt is where they’ll find the things they need to build a home, developers assemble a tech stack that has what they need to build software products. And the needs are different depending on the job, said Philadelphia-area tech consulting firm Chariot Solutions’ director of training and mentoring services, who trains devs on React, AngularJS, JavaScript and other frameworks and languages.

It’s Tech Stacks Month of Technical.ly’s 2019 editorial calendar, which means we’re devoting extra stories to the combination of libraries, frameworks and programming languages that make up local devs’ own tool belts. (Common Chariot stacks, per Rimple: Angular and Java, React and Node.js.)

Want to show off how a product was built and what was used to build it? Have a cool perspective to share on what programming languages are hot in 2019? Does your company have unique processes and strategies behind how its technology comes together? Want to write a first-person guest post about building your first app? Want to share some resources you used to level up your dev skills?

Send story ideas to baltimore@technical.ly, and find stories here once we get rolling.

For now, one simple Q we want local devs to answer: For your projects, what kinds of tech stacks are you working with? Seriously, tell us: baltimore@technical.ly. Your answer may end up in a future story, à la this one.

Timed with Tech Stacks Month is Super Meetup, our annual event bringing together Baltimore’s tech-related meetup groups for one big networking happy hour.

Super Meetup 2019 is happening Thursday, Aug. 8, at R. House. Here’s what to expect:

  • A whole bunch of great meetups from around the city; 2018’s event hosted 21 of them. You’ll be able to identify them by their name tags and we encourage you to chat with organizers one-on-one to find out ways to get involved.
  • Beverages and great food from some of the local restaurants
  • Bring plenty of business cards and lots of energy — there will be lots of connections there to make.
  • You can even find opportunities (and swag) with some of our exhibiting sponsors.
