Technology like blockchain and virtual and augmented reality get plenty of attention, but on a national scale it’s usually directed toward efforts like CryptoKitties and Pokemon Go.

Yet while adoption is increasing, the use of these technologies by businesses is still coming into focus.

The latest edition of the Waterfront Tech Series is looking to offer some examples. Titled “The Future is NOW,” the event is scheduled for May 16 at Brown Advisory in Fells Point (901 S. Bond St).

A panel, moderated by OffitKurman Principal Attorney Ed Tolchin, will include the following speakers:

  • Katherine Pinkard, President of Baltimore-based Pinkard Properties, who is working with blockchain and its application in commercial real estate.
  • Tim Kulp, Director of Emerging Technology at Mind Over Machines.
  • Len Sullivan, Vice President of the 3D Division at Maryland-based marketing firm HighRock.
  • Will Gee, Founder and CEO of Port Covington–based virtual and augmented reality stuido BaltiVirtual.

The panelists span a range of areas within tech, but each are working with businesses as they apply the technology both to reach customers and meet goals. Event producer Laura Gaworecki of MOXIE Promotion has said the goal of the event series is to highlight how tech can be used in all businesses.

The event series is also looking to reach out to more college students who are interested in getting networking experience. Through a partnership with Technical.ly Baltimore, the Waterfront Tech Series is offering a discount for students, who can use the code WFTSTUDENT through the link below.
