Baltimore-based Laureate Education announced it has a new partnership with IBM on Tuesday that’s geared toward data science education.

Laureate, which returned to being publicly traded last year and saw Eilif Serck-Hanssen succeed founder Douglas Becker as CEO at the beginning of this year, operates just shy of 70 for-profit colleges around the world. It’s teaming with the tech giant that created Watson to create a “fully digital” curriculum that covers areas such as data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning for its students.

According to the company, the coursework is a new offering that Laureate says can help prepare students for jobs as data scientists, software engineers and project managers.

“Building the practical skills to succeed in the AI era is one of the biggest challenges facing individuals and companies around the world,” Leon Katsnelson, Director and CTO of Strategic Partnerships & Data Science Ecosystem at IBM, said in a statement. “We are collaborating with Laureate to equip students with the tools and technology curriculum they need to become data scientists and help advance AI-powered business solutions and technologies.”

Launching in August, the coursework will be available in English, Spanish and Portuguese, as Laureate’s universities operate in 23 countries.
