The city has nonprofits supporting tech, and innovative approaches to charitable giving.

Following Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, it’s Giving Tuesday. Plenty of Baltimore nonprofits have campaigns, and some strategies for raising money to make dollars go further. Here’s a look at seven that emerged within the tech and innovation community:

Baltimore Corps

The nonprofit that supports social innovation in Baltimore is raising money for its Equity Fund. It helps fund fellows that support smaller nonprofits and its Elevation Awards, which recognize community leaders.

Baltimore Under Ground Science Space

The Highlandtown space better known as BUGGS is raising $10,000 under the campaign banner of Science for All. The community science lab recently marked five years of experimentation.

Code in the Schools

The Station North–based computer science education nonprofit set a $15,000 goal. Plus, it’s vying for some extra donation from the Newman’s Own Foundation through a (friendly) holiday season challenge.

Digital Harbor Foundation

The Federal Hill–based maker education nonprofit has a new way to become a “Champion” of its work, which means the holiday gift will keep giving.

Open Society Institute

Among many activities, OSI’s only field office in the U.S. runs a community fellowship program which provides backing to leaders working on solutions at the neighborhood level. (Check out this year’s cohort.) OSI says a #GivingTuesday donation will directly back one of the fellows. Gifts will be matched by the org’s advisory board.

Station North Tool Library

Having provided tools for many creations, the maker lending spot has plenty to give away for generous donors. SNTL set a $35,000 goal for its annual fundraiser, and Tuesday is the big finale.

Thread and Hidden Voices Baltimore

OSI also spearheaded Hidden Voices Baltimore is a way to draw out the city’s secrets, and the things we may not talk about. For Giving Tuesday, fellow Baltimore nonprofit Thread is looking to encourage submissions, with its supporters providing $1,000 for every postcard sent.
