R2i recently hired a new CEO.

Jennifer Quinlan, who most recently led a team at IBM Global Business Services, Distribution Sector, was tapped to lead the “next phase” of growth at the Inner Harbor-based digital marketing agency. The move was effective June 26, the company said Wednesday.

With Quinlan’s hiring, cofounder and former CEO Matt Goddard will no longer be with the agency.

R2i received a majority investment last year from private equity Baird Capital. As a result, the cofounders were no longer majority shareholders. At the time Goddard described the deal as positioning the company to scale in the “middle market” of clients that do $1 billion-$5 billion in revenue.

“The agency has reached an important milestone in its evolution and Jennifer’s 20+ years of direct and digital marketing services, account management, operations and business segment leadership experience from her prior roles align with the direction R2i is poised to go,” Richard Neff, chairman of R2i’s board, said in a statement.

Quinlan was North American Digital Practice leader in her former role with IBM. She was previously a senior vice president at Columbia-based marketing agency Merkle.
