PCMag has a need for speed, and they were in Baltimore recently to put mobile networks in the city to the test.
Verizon beat out three other networks in this race, including AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. It had the highest average download speed, among other top categories.
Geography also mattered. PCMag does their legwork, testing 10 sites in the city. Verizon was as good in Patterson Park as it was in Lexington Market. T-Mobile, on the other hand, struggled in Druid Hill Park.

Wireless carriers once used Baltimore as a test site, because it has a variety of terrain: hills, flat land, water, tall buildings, and low-slung residential areas. It can be a tough city to cover.
Verizon’s win was a change from 2013, when AT&T was on top.
