A Baltimore man is taking the idea of wearing specific clothes in front of famous landmarks to the next level.

According to Mashable, Sam Barsky knits sweaters of famous landmarks himself, then visits the famous spots. This week, the photos of Barsky at landmarks like Stonehenge and the Golden Gate Bridge have been going viral.

Barsky’s prime motivation is the knitting. The Times of Israel relays how Barsky became “that rarest of 21st century unicorns – a human internet meme.” First, there was a slight change in approach, the paper reports:

Whereas formerly he knit sweaters depicting places he had visited, recently he’s upped the ante. Now he first knits places he hopes to see, and then, when visiting the actual locations, he photographs himself while sporting the sites’ wearable twin.

Then, the photos were posted on Reddit, specifically r/interestingasfuck. Turns out, the knitting led to viral gold.

In addition to landmarks, Barsky also knits sweaters showing everyday scenes in nature and at the zoo. His depiction of power lines strikes just the right tone on nature, the desire to work with one’s hands and the always-present influence of human creations.
