Thomas Dolby went from a career in music to leading the ringtone revolution in Silicon Valley.
His latest stop is Baltimore, where he is a professor at Johns Hopkins and a leader of the JHU/MICA joint film program.
At a talk supporting his book, “The Speed of Sound,” in D.C. earlier this week, Dolby said he sees a mission behind the tech and creative projects he encounters here.
“Everyone here I see seems to be trying to make things better,” he said, according to our sister site Technical.ly DC. “I love being surrounded by that rather than people just looking out for No. 1 like they were when I was in the music industry.”
