Here’s an app to quiz how well you really know your friends

With Rebond, designer Eric Warner is looking to help people make more meaningful connections IRL.

As social media gets bigger, Eric Warner sees fewer and fewer IRL connections.
There are more people to connect with and info about them to sift through, but the Charles Village-based UX/UI designer feels that doesn’t always mean users learn the important stuff about each other.
“People weren’t necessarily retaining that info and learning about their friends,” he said.
To help make the connections happen, he created an app where users answer trivia about each other. Rebond launched July 24 for iOS.
It’s a gamified approach to get people talking. After downloading the app, users create a profile by answering questions about their interests in specific categories, like News & Politics, Entertainment or Food & Drink. They can also create hints with photos. The trivia game lasts 25 seconds. To keep the competitive juices flowing, there’s a challenge mode, power-ups and a way to scramble the questions.

Users can invite friends from their own contacts, or challenge other users that may have similar interests.
But Warner, who is also design chair of the AIGA Baltimore chapter, said the goal is to move the interaction to an in-person venue. Once friends find an area they bond over, the app directs users to deals at local spots.
The app is Warner’s first product release. His agency, EWCS, is involved in web design for other clients like the Philadelphia Eagles, AARP and Laureate Education.
