Port Covington picked up another Baltimore company last week, as Social Leagues moved to City Garage.
The expanding organizers of rec leagues in six cities, which started as Baltimore Social, graduated Betamore’s incubator program with the move.
After expanding with an acquisition in New York, CEO Giovanni Marcantoni talked about the importance of proximity to big brands, and the company signed a sponsorship deal with Anheuser-Busch (makers of “America” beer) around the same time. Marcantoni also talked about plans to ramp up its nonprofit focused on youth sports.
The company will look to expand on both fronts in the new location, which has room for 20 employees. Currently, Social Leagues’s Baltimore office has six full-timers.
“This move aligns the Social Leagues and Plank Industries brands, through which we believe we can achieve the goal of providing a free play experience for a child for each adult who plays in one of our leagues,” Marcantoni said.
Plank Industries’ Demian Costa said the company will also “add that spirit of fun that will help us increase the quality of life for businesses and residents in the area.”-30-
