LookingGlass acquires malware-fighting firm from Prague

LookingGlass CyberSolutions followed up its $20 million funding round with another acquisition.
The Arlington, Va.-based cybersecurity company that was founded in Baltimore and has offices in Canton acquired Kleissner & Associates. The Czech Republic-based company specializes in botnet monitoring through its Virus Tracker software.
Botnets are groups of infected computers that are used by hackers to steal large amounts of data. The bots are often capable of taking over the computers of average people without them knowing, creating what’s often called a “zombie army” of computers to do the bidding of nefarious actors.
“We have had a strong working relationship with Kleissner and Associates for the past couple of years, and this acquisition will allow the combined company to deliver new and innovative services to our current customers,” said Chris Coleman, CEO of LookingGlass.
Three new employees will join LookingGlass as a result of the deal, Coleman said. Terms were not disclosed.
LookingGlass worked with Kleissner in the past, and was interested in adding the technology to its current suite of offerings, Coleman added.
Acquiring Kleissner will also help the company reach small and medium-sized businesses.
LookingGlass has had international customers since 2011, and international employees since 2014. The acquisition will expand the company’s international presence, as it plans to build out work in Prague that was being done by Kleissner before the deal was done.
LoookingGlass doubled its workforce and added West Coast offices earlier this year with the separate acquisition of CloudShield.
