Use this map to find outdoor movies in Baltimore

Finally, a handy resource for keeping track of which films are playing where.

From the American Visionary Art Museum to the Shops at Kenilworth, Baltimore is the reel deal for outdoor movies during the summer.
It can be tough to keep all of the showtimes straight, so, for the second straight year, Hampden-based Carson Research Consulting created a map that shows where the movies are located.

We caught up with CRC’s Matthew Earls via email, who said the visualization was created using the Story Map feature on Esri’s ArcGIS. (In D.C., a team of historians recently used the same tool to map the history of segregation in the District.) New this year is a tab function that breaks down what movies are showing by week.
The Baltimore Outdoor Films Map arrives at a perfect time — with Films on the Pier returning to Fells Point and Flicks from the Hill back at the American Visionary Art Museum this week. The Little Italy Open Air Film Festival also kicked off last week.
Earls said CRC staffers are happy to get a chance to combine their love of cinema with their love of maps.
“The map is our attempt to provide those interested in outdoor cinema with a central place to explore the many outdoor film offerings our city provides,” Earls said. “And we like maps, so we thought that adding a map would add a level of interactivity and visual interest that a list could not necessarily provide.”
