An edtech app that offers rewards to students for getting good grades in Baltimore County is expanding beyond report cards.
Kudzoo, which is based in New York City and Chicago (and has Philly ties), is adding customizable SAT and Common Core practice questions to its app, the company announced this week.
With the feature, educators can choose content for students. Answering questions correctly allows access to the app’s reward system, which gives the opportunity to win gift cards, scholarships and other prizes.
“They brag to each other when they get an answer right,” said cofounder Logan Cohen, who has already seen the questions feature in action. “You don’t see students bragging in front of a test prep book.”
The app already allows students to scan report cards, and receive rewards based on their grades.
Kudzoo has been in use in Baltimore County Public Schools since this past summer. Cohen said Superintendent Dallas Dance has been instrumental in introducing new technology offerings to students.
