Here’s one economist’s solution to the feud between Annapolis and Uber

According to one economist, Annapolis officials (with their arguments and threats over whether Uber should be allowed to operate in the Maryland capital) are missing an important business opportunity.
Writing as a guest columnist in the Capital Gazette, former Anne Arundel County chief economist Scott Shaffer argues that the city’s Hillman Parking Garage could provide an answer to the standoff.
Uber and city officials have been at odds over the ridesharing company’s operations. The parking garage will likely become “structurally unsound” later this year.
Shaffer’s solution: “Offer Uber full legal rights to operate in Annapolis as it currently does, in exchange for corporate sponsorship of a new parking garage.”
