Juxtopia, a startup based at the Emerging Technology Centers’ Highlandtown incubator, earned one of three $100,000 grants from the nonprofit that manages research in the American laboratory aboard the International Space Station.

TEDCO’s fund targeted at tech transfer has supported 15 firms so far this year to the tune of $1.5 million.

Who’s making moves?

OrderUp is delivering a big batch of new hires. Jonathan Vassil, regional vice president of sales at Comcast-owned GolfNow, was named the Canton startup’s vice president of sales, The Daily Record reportsLauren Barnaba, late of Media Works, will be the company’s new community marketing manager. Daniella Chetcuti leaves NBCUniversal in New York to become OrderUp’s new events and promotions coordinator. Dana Gullard was named the company’s new copywriter and social media coordinator. Speaking of moves, Back Forty’s old haunt on Broadway Square is now listed on Craigslist. The consulting firm was recently acquired by OrderUp. “The office is just above BOP (no, it never smells like pizza; swing by and I’ll prove it), and adjacent to Pitango (yes, you will gain ~20 lbs of gelato weight),” the ad reads.
