ZeroFOX earns national ‘Innovator’ nod [Cybersecurity Roundup]

WHO’S GETTING BUZZ?

The Security Innovation Network named Federal Hill’s ZeroFOX one of its 16 “Innovators.” The 16 winners were chosen from 185 entrants nationwide.
Teams from Loyola Blakefield and University of Maryland University College won big in the finals of the Maryland Cyber Challenge at CyberMaryland last week, as Technical.ly Baltimore reported. The winning teams at the high school and college levels each took home $5,000 per member courtesy of the National Security Agency.
Also at CyberMaryland, state Department of Business and Economic Development Secretary Dominick Murray signed a memorandum of understanding with the Hague Security Cluster.
A survey released by state officials last week found that hiring in Maryland’s cybersecurity sector is on the rise.
Maryland’s first director of cybersecurity said at CyberMaryland that to avoid being hacked, governments must avoid making stupid mistakes, the Baltimore Business Journal reports. Elliot Schlanger was appointed to the role last August by Gov. Martin O’Malley.
