Plans fall through for Inner Harbor Apple Store [Links Roundup]

No "soaring ceiling" at a potential location means no Apple Store in Baltimore. Also, a Bostonian says parking app Haystack — which just expanded from Baltimore to Beantown — is dumb.

Apple had ‘serious discussions’ about opening an Inner Harbor store [Baltimore Business Journal]: “The owner of the office building at 400 E. Pratt St. pursued a deal with Apple Inc. to bring a 10,000-square-foot Apple store to the Inner Harbor, but the deal fell through in part because of the company’s need for a soaring ceiling.”

A Bostonian’s take on why parking app Haystack must fail [Baltimore Business Journal]: “I personally limit my driving in Boston because it’s really hard to find parking in much of the city, especially during peak times. But Haystack and other apps like it (think controversial MonkeyParking out in San Francisco) are profiting off of public space and forcing drivers like me to pay a premium for a simple parking space.”

Putting Maryland edtech on the map [MDBIZ News]: “How do you build an industry that barely existed two years ago? That was the challenge before about several dozen people involved in education, technology and economic development who gathered recently for a forum put on by the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council titled ‘Mapping the Maryland EdTech Landscape.'”
