Nanotech company Pixelligent searches for new manufacturing space

Pixelligent needs a large manufacturing space to advance production of its nanocrystal coatings for electronic devices -- something that could help the company break even for the first time.

Baltimore city-based Pixelligent, which recently raised a round of $3.8 million in equity funding, wants to use its nanocrystal technology to brighten LED light bulbs and power other electronic devices.
But the company, which has been producing a small amount of its nanocrystal coatings from its offices inside the Holabird Industrial Park, needs a large manufacturing space to advance production — something that could help Pixelligent break even for the first time since its founding in 2002 and “expand its workforce by 50 percent.”
The Baltimore Sun reports:

Pixelligent has the capacity to make as much as 4 tons a year, but it wants to produce 40 to 60 tons, [CEO Craig] Bandes said. The company is looking for about 25,000 square feet of space in the Baltimore area, preferably with some “chemistry infrastructure,” he said.
