Use this mobile app to find and purchase food from Real Food Farm

Since April 2013, Real Food Farm has tried to make tracking down fresh produce easier with its first iOS app.

On six acres of land in Clifton Park sits Real Food Farm, an urban farm in northeast Baltimore.

Established in 2009, Real Food Farm provides fruits and vegetables to city neighborhoods that sit inside food deserts: areas within Baltimore where residents, by virtue of income, mobility, or distance from grocery stores, have difficulty purchasing healthy foods. View a map of Baltimore’s food deserts here.

Using its mobile farmers market truck Big Blue, Real Food Farm takes the produce it grows to surrounding neighborhood markets, and even does deliveries to the home. Since April 2013, Real Food Farm has tried to make tracking down Big Blue easier with its first iOS app, which was designed by Anikto LLC. The app includes:

  • a map that plots market locations, as well as when the next Big Blue neighborhood stop is taking place.
  • a shopping cart to buy produce, which is then delivered by Big Blue to a user’s house.
  •  a cookbook of recipes using food sold by Real Food Farm.

Baltimore is the first location for Anikto LLC’s pilot project “Aisle Won.” The project itself, according to the website, is meant to connect “suppliers of healthy, affordable food with people who want to buy it.”

Anikto LLC has been working with Real Food Farm since 2012. The farm’s mobile app launched in April 2013.
