Sarah Prager wanted to update the iTunes store description for Quist, her free mobile app that highlights important moments from LGBT history, but was surprised to find the following message from Apple when she typed in the word bisexual:
“The following is not recommended for use in this field: bisexual. Your app may be rejected if you use this term.”
As the Baltimore Sun reports, that message received Monday led to Prager’s creating a Change.org petition in an attempt to convince Apple to “remove bisexual as an unacceptable word for use in app descriptions.”
Quist went live in late July and was designed by Fells Point-based web design firm Natural Fusion.
