A Y Combinator grad, the startup, which allows users to book a house cleaning at $20 per hour through its website, recently changed its name from Pathjoy and raised $1.7 million in seed funding.
It’s now in more than 10 cities around the country after launching in Philadelphia earlier this month. Homejoy partners with local cleaning services, said spokeswoman Marlo Struve via e-mail.
Working on the ground in Baltimore for Homejoy is operations manager Lavell Rollins, who previously served as the Johns Hopkins University Custodial Supervisor.
Struve said Homejoy expanded to Baltimore because it’s a “growing city [with a] huge young population” and because of “requests from clients who weren’t covered from our program in D.C. and Philadelphia.”
