Kickstarter of the Week is a regular series highlighting the technology, creative and innovation Kickstarter campaigns in Baltimore that might be worth your support. This week’s project comes from the GiveCorps crowdfunding tool instead. See other Kickstarters of the Week here.
The SEED School of Maryland wants to purchase 60 laptops for its rising class of ninth-grade students.
To do so, it’ll need $30,000, which it’s hoping to raise via GiveCorps before the end of the day Tuesday.
The school is a public boarding school where 388 students in grades six through 10 live in dormitories from Sunday evening through Friday afternoon. Students come from 17 counties across Maryland state.
These laptops, if bought, are students’ to keep: the SEED School ninth-graders will have these laptops throughout high school to use in class and at home on weekends, and will take them to whatever college or university they attend upon graduating high school.
In addition, there’s a dollar-for-dollar match on this particular fundraising campaign, said Peter Jackson, GiveCorps’ vice president of merchant and nonprofit relationships, in an e-mail. Donate 10 bucks, and 10 more bucks will be added to the campaign.
