The Baltimore Sun has soft-launched its new website, Touch.BaltimoreSun.com.

The site was soft-launched Feb. 18 and is presently in preview mode for smartphones. (It has been live on tablets since the launch.) As of last week, the Sun began redirecting tablet traffic to the new site.

Most of the attention will come for its responsive design, or as some Sun IT staff called it: a “device-agnostic” site. That means no more fretting over unwieldy displays irrespective of the size of your browser window and represents what has become the web design buzz phrase of the moment.

In December 2011, the Boston Globe launched its own responsive-design website, BostonGlobe.com.
