TechBreakfast, the monthly showcase for startups first organized by Bizelo founder Ron Schmelzer more than a year ago, is now headed to Northern Virginia.

The first “NoVa” TechBreakfast takes place Feb. 7, and will follow the format of the Baltimore, Columbia and Washington, D.C., breakfasts, but with just five of usually six startups presenting their products, apps or services in seven-minute blocks each.
Schmelzer, who admits that the trip to the Microsoft Technology Center in Reston, Va., will be more a trek for interested folks coming from Baltimore, said the impetus for expanding to Northern Virginia was linking the Mid-Atlantic tech communities into a cohesive whole.
“The problems in our region are transportation-related, but the tech scenes are fairly cohesive otherwise,” he said. “A lot of people who invest in NoVa will invest in Baltimore, Columba, D.C. I didn’t want to cut that whole community [in between Northern Virginia and D.C.] off.”
