Maryland’s largest city hasn’t really had an “easy” year in recent memory, and 2024 was no different.

But despite some high-profile losses bearing implications for the city and surrounding region’s economy, the tech, entrepreneurship and startup world that we at Technical.ly have covered for over 12 years kept going. Moreover, it added new programs and supports that embodied confidence in collaboration and community to overcome these challenges

Here are some of the highs and lows that defined Baltimore’s innovation scene over the past year.

Companies: Pava Marie LaPere Center for Entrepreneurship / Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory / Emerging Technology Centers (ETC Baltimore) / Johns Hopkins University / Venture for America / University of Maryland BioPark / TEDCO / State of Maryland / Economic Development Administration
