Hercules Untapped beer garden is back, and it’s going all out for its 2018 kickoff

Hercules Untapped brings Midnight Oil brews and more to downtown Wilmington on May 3 — for a cause. And, um, we've heard some things.

Now that Midnight Oil Brewing Company is a part of the McConnell Johnson family (it opened its full-scale brewery near Newark in February), the Hercules Building and 1313 Innovation had a big incentive to bring back the weekly Hercules Untapped beer garden.

For the kickoff event on May 3 from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m., you can sample Midnight Oil brews for free, have some complimentary bites from Outlandish and Mojo Loco, enjoy live entertainment, and, I hear, you’ll see some pretty unique things. With the help of Planning Factory International, which recently opened an office in the Hercules Building as the new “Concierge for Special Events & Meetings,” the launch party is going to double as an all-out showcase for what PFI (which plans events for big-time clients like Bacardi) can do.

I also hear there might be, like, a seaweed salad bar with a living mermaid in the ball fountain.

I’m not joking.

The kickoff event is free, and includes sample-sized food and drinks, with donations for SummerCollab accepted (at future Untapped events, you’ll have to buy beer and food). All Untapped events benefit local nonprofits.
