On the Market is a column where we highlight noteworthy job openings and the people who are lookin’. Got a submission? Email us and tell us why it belongs in the roundup.

With most reports agreeing that Philly’s tech ecosystem is growing at a healthy rate, one measure of increased activity is simple, at least in concept: Bringing non-technical folks into tech-adjacent roles.

It’s also a push we consistently see from employers at our annual tech jobs fair, NET/WORK. Roles like operations managers, bizdev coordinators and digital project managers are spotted in almost every booth. Though they require a familiarity with the ways of writing code, jobs like these are usually a gateway for non-tech folks to come aboard the hottest sector in today’s economy.

So while our traditional On the Market focuses on linking up devs with their next power move, this time around we’re taking a look at some non-coding jobs around Philly.

Work for Jake Stein at Stitch

The RJMetrics cofounder (who recently gave an honest talk on how things sometimes don’t go so smoothly) is hiring for an Account Executive in his new-ish venture: Stitch. The RJMetrics spinout is turning one year next month.

Help Blackfynn get that grant money

The Center City company is in the market for a Grants and Academic Coordinator to manage grant money the startup secured from the NIH and DARPA. The push on whomever fills this role will be to also scout out new funding for the data analytics firm.

Manage bizdev at Azavea

Robert Cheetham’s mapping company is in the civic-tech space. The Callowhill-based firm, which is in the market for a Business Development Manager, is also a certified B Corp with a penchant for supporting causes like immigration and fair pay. While this is a more senior role, it’s still a good example of a gig that could lure someone from a less technical space.

Join Alex Urevick-Ackelsberg’s Zivtech

Here’s a curious role: the Center City company, founded by tech scenester Alex Urevick-Ackelsberg is hunting down a Technical Documentation Specialist to crank out documentation focused on tech. As part of the offering, the company pledges to help the employee gain experience in Drupal and Atlassian.

Head up business development at CloudMine

Fresh off some leadership changes and a multimillion-dollar capital raise, this company’s looking for a Director of Business Development to join its health-IT quest.
