Moms who want to start a business are finding local support for balancing business and family from theĀ Moms as Entrepreneurs academy.

And now a coworking space is next.

MAE cofounder Tammira Lucas and her sister Kesha Jamison are looking to open the space at 6905 York Road, Lucas said Thursday night at a talk at Impact Hub Baltimore.

The Cube is set to look a lot like a shared workspace, with conference rooms and office amenities. For moms, it will also have childcare.

The organization isĀ raising money for a $10,000 loan through Kiva. As of Aug. 26, about half the money was committed.

“One of the principal challenges I faced as a mom entrepreneur is learning how to balance the requirements of my child with the needs of my business and other areas of life,” the Kiva page reads.

She’s looking to help other momtrepreneurs overcome that.

MAE is also set to run another eight-week academy, starting on Sept. 12. The cohorts meet once a week, from 6 to 9 p.m., Lucas said.
