Thanks in part to local community support, the first-ever national conference for WordPress, the software used to create more than 25 percent of the websites on the internet, is happening in Philadelphia this weekend.
Get ready for WordCamp US Dec. 4-6, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

See the complete schedule of the sessions and their presenters here.
There are 80 sessions in all, including full-length and lightning talks — 10-minute presentations meant to give attendees exposure to many ideas, techniques and concepts which may be new to them.
The cost of the event to attendees is only $40, something which the WordPress community, together with many sponsors and volunteers, makes possible so that as many people as possible can attend the event. The ticket price includes admission to all three days of the conference as well as the after-party.
The after-party takes place at Lucky Strike, and features unlimited bowling — shoes included — with hors d’oeuvres, drinks and plenty of space to talk or just relax. What’s more, there will be Rock Band, shuffleboard, pool and ping pong!
Contributor Day, on Sunday, Dec. 6, allows people to contribute in a variety of technical and non-technical ways to the open source project in a group setting.
Philadelphia was chosen to host this first WordCamp US, which is the premier WordPress conference of the year. WordCamp US organizers expect 2,000 attendees from across the United States and around the world — yeah, far bigger than the local version this past March. (FYI, this very website Technical.ly is built on WordPress, and the Technical.ly team will be showing off their tech stack at a pre-WordCamp event.)

At WordCamp itself, Matt Mullenweg, cofounding developer of WordPress, will present “The State of the Word,” an annual report discussing the current status and future plans for WordPress.
