Here’s what you need to know about Venture Pitch Day at Betamore

What VCs will be there, how many startups will be accepted and how to apply.

We’ve been hearing from startup founders looking for more info about the pitch events at Beta City on Oct. 1, so this update from Betamore seems timely.
The daylong event will kick off with Venture Pitch Day, a 1 p.m. event at Betamore that will gather VCs and investment firms from the Baltimore area to hear pitches from local startups.
The firms with representatives at the event will include:

  • Timonium-based venture capital giant NEA
  • GroTech Ventures
  • Steve Case’s Revolution Ventures
  • Kevin Plank-backed Plank Industries
  • Greenspring Associates
  • Camden Partners
  • Baltimore Angels
  • TEDCO

GroTech, Greenspring and NEA are listed as organizers of the event along with Betamore.
“Typically, if a Baltimore company wants to secure investor funding, they have to do a road show in multiple places with multiple companies,” Betamore CEO Jen Meyer said in a statement. “Likewise, VC firms spend countless hours combing through research and taking meetings with prospective companies. This event will help both sides cut through the clutter, true to Betamore’s mission of connecting companies with the resources they need to grow.”
About 8-10 startups will have a chance to pitch at the Oct. 1 event, according to organizers. The startups will be “chosen to collectively represent the best and brightest by the region’s leading incubator programs and growing companies,” according to info from the organizers.
Startups who want to pitch should start by applying to showcase at a later event, where about 30 startups will demo for a group of about 30 VIPs at 3:30 p.m., and later to the general public. The event will be held at City Garage, which is being developed as a center of innovation as part of Plank Industries’ redevelopment of Port Covington.
From the group of 30 startups chosen to demo, organizers will select the 8-10 startups that will pitch at the earlier event.
The deadline to apply is Sept. 15, and companies will receive word about a week later.
