WilmU is hosting a Game Jam tonight

Four games will be available for free play. The event is happening in collaboration with IndieGameStand and local arcade bar 1984.

What happens when a local university hosts an indie video game provider and four local video game developers, then lets the public play their products for two hours (for free!)?
We’ll find out soon, because that’s exactly what’s happening at Wilmington University’s Game Jam Friday night. It’s a partnership between online indie game provider IndieGameStand and local arcade bar 1984.
Those familiar with Wilmington University’s video game design department know that WilmU takes gaming very seriously.
“Participating in game jams can be a very rewarding experience,” said Scott Shaw, the university’s gaming academic. “You really get to understand your team members, your own abilities, and your limits.”
Shaw said he wants to create a game industry right here in Delaware — one with enough capacity to compete with game development scenes in Philadelphia and Baltimore.
“We are really happy to have this competition come together with IndieGameStand, 1984 and Wilmington University game students,” Shaw said. “Having people come out to support these teams is the first step in doing that.”
The games start at 5:00 p.m. and will conclude at 7:00 p.m.
