Maintaining relationships are a core component of growing any business.

It’s important to accommodate new consumers and referrals, but it’s also crucial to stay in contact with the clientele you’ve grown throughout the year, which can also be one of the biggest challenges.
Previously, there wasn’t an easy way to maintain relationships, but Contactually is transforming the way businesses stay in touch with clients while simultaneously building their networks.
“It was the desire to build a software company that would help people build really strong and really authentic relationships, with the people that matter most with them,” said COO and cofounder Tony Cappaert.
Here’s how it works.
The D.C.-based startup brings together contacts from your phone, social media accounts and email all onto one platform. The platform helps businesses pinpoint important customers and contacts by sorting their contacts into “buckets” (or groups) with the goal of turning those relationships into increased sales, referrals or signups.
Contactually also reminds users to follow up with contacts on the platform dashboard, which also includes a calendar, the ability to review previous interactions and more.
“By sending those really proactive reminders, we are essentially helping them form the most important relationships and we help engage them more regularly and drive better results,” said Cappaert, who founded the company in 2011 with CEO Zvi Band and CTO Jeff Carbonella.
As of now, Cappaert says the Contactually team has mastered two of the key components to maintaining relationships, which is figuring who is important to you and how to follow up in a timely manner.
However, the company is creating a new content library feature, which will help users determine the content they want to send in follow-up messages.

“It is our first big push in sharing really good templates and content that you might want to use when following up with a leader or customer,” Cappaert said.
The content libraries also allow users to access templates to prompt them with ideas on how to reach their clients in an authentic way.
“There is nothing else out there that coaches you on how to interact with people,” said Cappaert. “It’s marrying the technology and almost the strategy of best managing relationships, and that’s what we are trying to do with this library push.”
Late last year Contactually raised $2 million to fuel growth.
