Mooki, Sonavex win Tech.Co pitch event

Seven startups pitched at Mother's Wednesday night. Here's what they each do.

Members of Baltimore’s tech community gathered in the back room of Mother’s Federal Hill Grille on Wednesday for Tech.Co (formerly Tech Cocktail’s) latest local event.
The national organization brought together seven Baltimore-area startups for minute-long pitches that ended with the sound of a cowbell. Then, the crowd broke out their phones and voted on their favorites.
Here’s the gist of what the startups do:
Aristotle Health

  • A “Yelp! for healthcare” that provides mobile communication between patients and providers.

Eventuosity

  • Event management software for web and mobile that allows workflow, coordination of staff assignments, and cost-tracking.

Kinglet

  • The orange jacket was in the house. Baltimore city’s expanding office rental service helps startups and small companies find space to work within larger, existing offices.

Kitchology

  • A path to a “connected kitchen,” this platform to navigate eating at home that offers recipes, shopping tips and a way to share what you’ve learned.

Mooki

  • A social network seeking to link college students and grads with work experience that’s relevant to their careers. People looking for work can find experience that’s relevant to what they want to do, while employers can post opportunities.

Sonavex

  • A health startup that makes imaging technology to detect clots that form after surgical procedures where arteries or veins are connected.

Urban Pastoral

  • A collective of Baltimore city farmers who use a vertical growing method to produce food. The group is set to launch its first “shipping container greenhouse” at the Baltimore Food Hub.

In the end, Mooki earned the reader’s choice award, while Sonavex got the most votes from people in attendance. Both will get a chance to go pitch at Tech.Co’s national conference in Las Vegas.
