Who’s getting buzz?

Our story last week about Wilmington University’s new proposed campus got quite a bit of buzz on Twitter. Read our story, “Is Wilmington University’s new 41-acre campus bad for Delaware?” here.

The guys behind Anniversary — the app that turns present moments into future memories — returned to the University of Delaware campus to kick off their traveling campaign. According to The Review, UD’s student newspaper, Kenneth Wallach and Benjamin Klein are visiting colleges to target the 18-25-year-old demographic. We profiled Klein and Wallach earlier this year. Read their story here.

Newark officially unveiled McKees Solar Park at the site of a previous landfill, The Cecil Whig reports. Town council, last year, authorized $600,000 to build the park; the park will eventually pay for itself by not relying on wholesale power, the article states. Newark residents donated $4,000 to the project; 77 residents made  $50 micro-investments, and will receive a $1 rebate each month on their electric bill for the next decade.
The Baltimore Sun’s recent article “Delaware’s NFL betting business is booming — and Marylanders are noticing,” tells the story of Maryland residents traveling to Delaware to participate in sports betting, especially NFL sports betting. Earlier this fall, Technical.ly Delaware profiled Shawn Lindsey of CappedIn, a website he created and developed to provide users with professional sports handicapping. Read his story here.

WHO’S GETTING FUNDED?

WISHIZ.ME, according to a Forms D report, has not reported any confirmed investors yet, but hopes to raise $500,000. David Krasicki and Steven Ruttenberg are listed as directors of the dating/crowdfunding site. A Newark address is listed, but Technical.ly Delaware cannot confirm if the organization is based in Delaware.
Their YouTube promo video isn’t exactly full of nuanced gender roles:
