The new Editor-in-Chief of Technical.ly will be Zack Seward, the innovations writer and radio reporter. Beginning in June, he will be leading the editorial direction for the local tech news network, including its current markets in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Brooklyn and plans for expansion this year.
He brings multi-market reporting and editing experience, a multimedia background and a deep appreciation for the community beat reporting and storytelling that Technical.ly has made a foundation of its tech, entrepreneurship and creative-class coverage.
Previously, Seward was an innovations reporter at WHYY 90.9 FM and NewsWorks.org in Philadelphia. Before that, he worked at WXXI in Rochester, N.Y., as a reporter for the Innovation Trail — a statewide public radio reporting project. He is originally from San Francisco and went to college at the University of Chicago. He worked at the PBS NewsHour in Washington, D.C., before attending Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism.
Seward will be taking over daily editing from Technical.ly cofounder Christopher Wink, who will become Editorial Director and serve in a publisher capacity alongside Business Director and fellow cofounder Brian James Kirk.
For clarity’s sake, this Zack Seward is different than the other tech-inclined online media editor with a similar sounding name, Zach Seward of Quartz.
